Now We've Got Members
Repulsive Force

Metronomicon Audio; 2009

8/10

With the conclusion that the people who didn’t end up liking them after the previous album wouldn’t change their minds with the next one anyway, Now We’ve Got Members have decided to screw those people and rather make even more obscure music.

And without a doubt, this album has fewer songs that immediately seem catchy and danceable than its predecessor, Then Is Just Another Kind Of Now. At first that might seem disappointing. You might have expected something similar, maybe even more catchy. That’s not what you get. Instead, they continue to explore all kinds of strange musical styles that are way beyond my grasp. And I can’t help falling in love with the music, even if I fail every time I try nodding or stomping along to the strange and irregular rhytms.

Actually, I think the two newest albums make a pretty nice pair, fill each other out in a way. If you want to hear the members play really catchy and poppy songs, you go back and give their previous album a spin. If you want to hear more exploring and curious music, Repulsive Force is the album.

We also interviewed the frontman of the band a couple of months ago, where he shared some details around the album. you can read the interview here.
