Beautiful hand drawn music video

jokesDave Mahler is a 17-year-old from Australia and he has just recently finished making a music video for the song “All The Jokes Are On Me” from the Norwegian band Firefly Effects. He’s also made videos for Le Corbeau and Koppen.

The video is made up of as much as 1640 hand drawn and water colored frames and it took him four months to make it. With pastel colors and a that hand drawn style, it looks really good. Most people will probably think of A-ha’s “Take on Me”, though I’d say this one has a lot more charm.

Anyways, watch the video, it’s a real piece of art.

Firefly Effect is a band from Oslo, playing what they themselves describe as “retrofuturistic sunshine pop” and the songs are about the bittersweet part of love and swirls around topics like unfulfilled love and relationships going wrong, while it’s all neatly wrapped in a package of worry free pop melodies that instantly makes you want to hum or whistle. It’s easy to forget what the lyrics are really about, kind of like Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, only a lot sweeter. Two of the members, Truls and Emil also play in Pilemil, who recently put out a new record that we just reviewed.
